BUILDING HIGH SELF ESTEEM
Have you ever felt left out when other felt included? Do you always see yourself as a second tier individual who is not good for anything? Don't worry you are not the only one in this, most of us pass through this in our lifetime but there is always a way out of such a cave.
Self-Esteem is seen as a subjective perception of an individual, which might either be true or not. We all know that self-esteem sometimes referred to as self-worth or self-respect, is also an important part of success. Too little self-esteem can leave people feeling defeated or depressed. It can also lead people to make bad choices, fall into destructive relationships, or fail to live up to their full potential and can even damage personal relationships.
Why Self-Esteem?
Self esteem is an important factor which can either make or Mar and individual. It determines your success of failure. Self-esteem can either make you successful in your job or make you fail in academics. It deals with your perception of yourself and perception plays a great role in humans' success or failure.
Self-esteem can either be low or high. When you suffer from low self-esteem it makes it difficult to succeed at anything because you see yourself as not good enough, while high self-esteem makes you do more and see yourself as nothing but the best, it has however been noted that there must be a balance between high and low self esteem so that the person with the high self-esteem will not go overboard.
Factors That Influence Self-Esteem
As you might imagine, there are different factors that can influence self-esteem. It is often our experiences that form the basis for overall self-esteem. Those who consistently receive overly critical or negative assessments from caregivers, family members, and friends, for example, will likely experience problems with low self-esteem.
Additionally, your inner thinking, age, any potential illnesses, disabilities, or physical limitations, and your job can affect your self-esteem.
Signs of Healthy Self-Esteem
You probably have a healthy self esteem when you exhibit the following traits but not limited to: Confidence, Ability to say no, Positive outlook, Ability to see overall strengths and weaknesses and accept them, etc.
Sign of Low Self-Esteem
When you exhibit the following traits then you need to check your perceptions: Negative outlook, Lack of confidence, Inability to express your needs, Focus on your weaknesses, Excessive feelings of shame, depression, or anxiety, Belief that others are better than you,Trouble accepting positive feedback, Intense fear of failure, etc.
Tips to Improving Your Self-Esteem
1.  Be nice to yourself
That little voice that tells you you’re killin’ it (or not) is way more powerful than you might think. Make an effort to be kind to yourself and, if you do slip up, try to challenge any negative thoughts.
2. You do you
Stop comparing yourself to other people because this  is a sure-fire way to start feeling crummy. Try to focus on your own goals and achievements, rather than measuring them against someone else’s.
3. Get moving
Keep moving no matter the disappointment, put yourself to tasks that will challenge you to do more everyday.
4. Nobody’s perfect
Always strive to be the best version of yourself, but it’s also important to accept that perfection is an unrealistic goal and nobody can attain that feat, each person have their weaknesses which makes humans gullible.
5. Remember that everyone makes mistakes
You’ve got to make mistakes in order to learn and grow, so try not to beat yourself up if you forget to hit CTRL+S on a super-important assignment. Everyone’s been there.
6. Focus on what you can change
Always know that you cannot change everything around you. Instead, try to focus your energy on identifying the things that are within your control and seeing what you can do about them.
Conclusion
Life throws at you different shades of things, but you decide what you do with it. Do not think lowly of yourself but always see a brighter side in every situation you find yourself and make it the best.
