Religion
Human race has existed for son long a time in the world but has failed to achieve unity, love, harmony, etc., as these are seen merely as nightmares.
Humans have lived together long enough to have attained some level of understanding of how human existence work. It played out that in the beginning when there was one voice and humans agreed to build the Tower of Babel, it was recorded as success to a point in the Bible. Why has everything changed for on what it was to what it is now?
It is if not doubt that conflict and wars have been part of human existence from the beginning, but there is one factor that has actively divided us the more than it has united us, and that is simply RELIGION.
Note that religion in itself is not bad, but those who practise it actually turned it to something else. Just like the saying that "politics is not a dirty game but those who play politics makes it dirty".
Nigeria as a country is in this state of uncertainty and confusion because of the way religion is being practised. The conflicts and fights witnessed in this nation so far have been linked to religion and ethnic problems.
The three major religion being practised in Nigeria namely, Islam, Christianity, and Traditional religion, is believed to teach and preach peace and unity but reverse is the case in practice has they have brought in more curses than blessings for this country. Why must we keep killing ourselves because we want our religion to be the accepted one? Why can't we accept each other just as we all are?
The Christians have different believes among themselves which causes internal conflicts, likewise the Muslims and the traditional religion is left out. If there is conflict within a particular religion and the same religion still want to dominate, please how will it work out? Religion should be a unifying factor and not a dividing agent.
Let us check ourselves and see that we preach and act unity, so that we can all have a peaceful nation where progress and love would be the order of the day.
