Being idle is one of the characteristics of a warped minded individual. Opportunity lies in the way of a determined and hard working person who sees the best in what he it she does.
The story of Sandra the Gokada employee caught my fancy when I was reading it recently. This is a girl who was determined to succeed in a legitimate way but was unfortunate to lose her source of livelihood due to the ban of Okada and Tricycle in Lagos state. Sandra is a 20 year old who is trying to scale through the hurdle of the stress of this country by engaging in a legitimate work and not being idle.
From the story of this young lady, it was told that after her interview video went viral, a philanthropist rose up to her challenge and gave a helping hand by providing her a car so that she can run her own Uber business; so Sandra has moved from being a Gokada employee to becoming her own boss.
Imagine this lady was not determined and ambitious enough, she might not have gotten the help that came her way. Her preparation came in contact with an opportunity which is very rare; she was never idle.
Yes, you will complain that the government is not helping you; but are you helping yourself? What do you have at hand? What profitable thing are you doing to better your situation? Opportunity comes to those who are prepared for it and not to the sluggards.
